Ryokan Mugen and Tome-san were exceptional! The lodging itself was beautifully decorated with a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was easily the best we had in Kyoto! Tome-san was delightful and gave us excellent recommendations in the area. 11/10 experience and will only book here if we ever have the pleasure of returning to Kyoto.

Tome made our stay so worthwhile. Her omotenashi was simply amazing and we enjoyed our first visit to Kyoto so much. Our room was clean and quite spacious. We looked forward to our kaiseki breakfast every morning and it was delicious! The garden and the bar were some of my favourite memories in Kyoto. Location-wise, it was pretty good. Located near the bus stops, close to shops, and within walking distance to touristy spots.

We loved every detail of the property, modern in a traditional Japanese building. The breakfasts were amazing and plentiful. The beds were very comfy, AC was much appreciated, daily tea and snack in the afternoon and comfy kimono to wear. Tome was infinitely resourceful, giving us recommendations on what to do, see and eat. We highly recommend this ryokan.

We loved everything about this property and the owner Tome-San and her husband.
They were very kind hosts. As soon as we arrived, we were taken to the snug bar for a complementary drink - sparkling sake in my case.
It’s a beautiful old property with such character.
The Japanese breakfast Tome-San made was delicious and made with such care.
A perfect and characterful place to stay if in Kyoto.
