Vela is one private apartment at Casa Verapaz. The pool, jacuzzi, larger gardens, and natural lake access are shared with registered guests staying in our other apartments.
The pool is unheated. The jacuzzi is heated on request. Casa Verapaz has natural lakeshore access rather than a beach-style swimming area.
Location
Casa Verapaz is located in Santa Catarina Palopó, a living Kaqchikel Maya community on Lake Atitlán. The center of the village is a short walk away, and Panajachel is approximately 10–15 minutes away by car.
The property can be accessed from both the road and lakeside.
Guest access
Guests have private access to the entire Vela apartment and its private balcony.
The pool, jacuzzi, larger gardens, and natural lake access are shared with registered guests staying in the other apartments.
Vela has a private gas BBQ on its balcony and one assigned parking space.
The main house, service areas, and other designated gated areas are reserved for owners and staff.

Check-in instructions will be sent 24 hours before arrival.
Dogs are welcome for an additional fee of $50 USD / Q385 per pet, per stay. Please add your pet to the reservation.
Paid laundry service is available for Q60 per load. Laundry is handled separately; there is no washer or dryer inside Vela.
One assigned parking space is included. On-site parking is best suited for smaller vehicles; larger or additional vehicles may require nearby parking.
Casa Verapaz is built into the hillside, so some shared areas are reached by outdoor paths and stairs.
The shared pool is unheated, and the shared jacuzzi is heated on request.
Exterior security cameras monitor designated entrances and common access areas. They record video only, not audio. There are no cameras inside residences or private guest spaces.
Santa Catarina Palopó is a living community. You may occasionally hear church bells, religious services and music, dogs, boats, fireworks, or local celebrations. Fireworks can sometimes occur early in the morning.
Casa Verapaz is private property. Only registered overnight guests may enter or use the pool, jacuzzi, gardens, and lake access. Outside visitors are not permitted.

We arrived at night and instantly fell in love with the property. Just as we thought it couldn’t get any better, we woke up to the most stunning views. The property is gorgeous and was spotless!!! Our trip would not have been as spectacular if it weren’t for the host, Julio, and the groundskeeper, Alfonso. For kayaking, jet skis, massages, and restaurants, the host was able to provide some amazing recommendations and was readily available to answer any questions. Alfonso was very kind and constantly maintaining the property. Overall, this is the best experience I’ve had!!!

My husband and I spent 5 days in one of this apartments, and oh what a beautiful place this is.
This are some of the things I think a guest can find helpful: This units are new, there's no dust, no noise no clutter.
Our apartment had everything we needed for our stay and more.
Views are amazing, during the day you can enjoy the view of Lago Atitlan, during the night the shimmering lights of a couple of towns at the other side of the lake.
We took advantage of the gate at the lower point of the property and went for walks at the edge of the lake. By the way if you follow the path to the right of the property, you'll find the hot water springs on the side of the mountain.
To the left of the property you can find a pier and plenty of boats that can take you to the other towns.
Had dinner in different restaurants of the area and Also went to the little market at a walking distance from Casa Verapaz.
We enjoyed almost everything this property has to offer except the pool. Not because it wasn't ready but because it rained a lot during the days we stayed there.
So far one of the best properties we've visited in Guatemala.

If you are planning a trip to Lake Atlan, this is the spot! It is a two minute walk to the Hot Springs The apartment is impeccable very clean very modern with an amazing view. If you’re looking to relax that tub in the master bedroom is divine. Julio and Alfonso were extremely warm and welcoming. They have a grill that you can use a pool that depending on other properties being rented you have it all to yourself. Don’t look any further. This is the place to stay at. And Jacuzzi to come with thermal waters.
