I have been in Siargao for over a month now and stayed in a wide range of properties in different parts of the Island. All of my stays have been great General's Hideout though stands out as my favorite stay and chapter in my trip so far. The property is located on the outskirts of the village of Malinao which is very local and lively with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. It is very close to the beach and a very good restaurant called El Carabao which also stands out as one of my best experiences here in Siargao and eat there every day. All off the Staff at Generals Hideout have made me feel absolutely at home and the added bonus of having very friendly dogs and a cat on the premises really makes me feel at home. I love saying here. Highly recommended :)

I like that the General’s Hideout is quiet and peaceful. It’s also very friendly for digital nomads, with fast and reliable Wi-Fi.
We didn’t encounter any issues during my stay—everything was excellent.

We love the dogs!! They make you feel like home and they are so friendly. Also the staff is always happy to help. The kitchen is very nice and good to use. The bed is big and comfortable and the room has all the amenities you need. The location is perfect, just close to the main road but super quiet and close to main spots but not in the center.
Maybe the shower head. Not super strong and the position was bit too up high.

Helpful host and friendly animals, you can rent a scooter directly from them and they arrange airport transport at a fair price
Our room smelled really bad like dog pee, we tried to locate it and resolve it ourselves but couldn’t find the source. This was particularly annoying since we had just arrived and needed to rest from the travels but couldn’t because the smell was too bad. We communicated that with the manager who cleaned the room again a few hours later. It didn’t go away so on the second night we changed rooms. Despite hostess has always remained helpful, we could sense her being annoyed by this/us which felt odd. We are paying for a service and shouldn’t made feel guilty for pointing out something that makes us feel uncomfortable.
The second room was fine. The rooms are nice but very basic, totally ok for the price though.
