We liked the open plan living & appreciated the reliable supply of wood since we stayed in the middle of winter. The beds were super comfy.
It is advertised to have 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, which is essentially true. However it doesn’t specify that the 2nd bathroom is located with the 3rd bedroom which is only accessible from a separate outside entrance. I booked for myself and another couple thinking we would both have a separate bathroom for use, but it was not convenient to go outside whenever needed, so ended up just sharing the one in the main part of the house & there was no separate toilet.
On arrival we tried for about 10mins to access the front door with the key provided before calling for assistance. We were told it works you just have to ‘pull & lift the door & it will eventually work’. They said they would call the owner and call us back, but we never heard back from anyone. We were fortunate that one of the back doors had been left open and so we accessed from there. We did end up managing to make the key work, but it definitely wasn’t easy & not very relaxing when you’re unsure if you’re going to be able to get back into your house.
There is a lovely big clock on the wall which I kept looking at for the time …. but it wasn’t working. Details matter & are worth investing just a little bit of time into.

The apartment was spacious. Well equipped. In a quiet, leafy hillside within easy walking distance of Halls Gap village.
Wifi was weak. Not strong enough to download newspapers (eg The Age) from the online site. The wood fire was necessary, but we quickly used the limited wood supply provided. We saw that there was a number to phone to organise a re-supply. We were given a numeric code for the padlock, which didn't work. But then we noticed that the woodshed wasn't actually locked and we could replenish the firewood.

It’s big and modern and it’s in a quiet area. Visits from the local wildlife was lovely.
No blind in the bathroom made me a bit uneasy.
