Easily one of the best stays I've had in DC (and other places...). Great facility (much prefer these historical buildings, particularly when they're so well kept); attentive, relaxed staff easy to work with; great location for business and services of all sorts, and relatively close to DCA. The perks of an old building (I believe built in 1918, converted from an apartment building to a hotel in 1982) is that it's solid and quiet, and the overall atmosphere - stone, wood, details - makes this grand building quite cozy. Rooms are smaller than more contemporary hotels, but feel more comfortable, and there are no real practical compromises. Roomy bathroom, enough closet space, etc. If you're driving, they have valet parking...but don't drive if you don't have to! The city has plenty of options to get around quickly. Great place!
