I recently had the pleasure of staying at your property and wanted to share my experience. The hotel was clean and well maintained, and I was especially impressed by the friendliness of the staff. The food was excellent, and my room was spotless and comfortable.
The only minor drawback was the distance to the beach, which was a bit farther than expected. However, this did not significantly impact my overall enjoyment of the stay.

AHG Lion Gate Hotel has a lot of potential. The food was very good, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was also fascinating to see how many languages they spoke, which really added a welcoming and international feel to the place.
However, the alcoholic drinks were disappointing—most tasted watered down, like a mix of juice and very little alcohol. For the price of the all-inclusive option, it’s surprising that it ends at 10 p.m. After that, you have to pay for drinks, and paying €7 for a cocktail that isn’t well made feels unreasonable.
There are also small details the hotel could easily improve to enhance guests’ experience, such as adding irons and full-length mirrors in the rooms, since the bathroom mirror is quite small.
On the positive side, the nightly entertainment was great, and the pool area is lovely, though it closes early at 7 p.m. Watamu Beach is beautiful too, but note that the tide doesn’t come in until the afternoon—mornings are low tide with very little water.
Overall, it’s a pleasant stay with friendly staff and nice food, but a few simple improvements could really elevate the experience.
