I would definitely book a room at La Gemma again!
Gemma is an amazing host that makes you feel welcome from the start! She is attentive to your needs and gives you a great introduction to the city of Naples. We got really good recommendations on restaurants, sightseeing and transport which saved us a lot of time and planning.
Clean rooms with everything you might need, a bed that was great for my back, good bed linen and towels. Nice soaps and shampoo. Room was cleaned during our stay. Multiple electrical outlets. AC kept the room cool.
Breakfast is tailored to your choice of food and drinks and at your preferred time. Gemma even prepares something to eat in the morning if you have to travel early. Bottled water is available for a low price but the tap water is fine to drink.
The BnB is located at a piazza (square) just outside the entrance to the old quarters where you find the famous pizza, bars and street food. It’s a good starting point wherever you’re going for the day with both a subway station and bus stop. It’s walking distance to most of the main attractions in the city.
The piazza is lively with restaurants and bars and the street is busy pretty much 24/7. Our room was very quiet though and we always felt safe in the neighborhood.
By booking La Gemma you are supporting a local small business owner. If, like me, you have concerns about the impact short-term rental platforms can have on housing availability in local communities, this is a great alternative.
