Although the hotel itself was pleasant enough and very picturesque, its location left a lot to be desired.
Firstly, it is at the end of a dirt road with no lighting and a lot of potholes. This made coming to the hotel in the dark a hazard for both cars and pedestrians.
In the immediate area of the Willa Helan there are few facilities; even the restaurant the hotel staff recommended was never open during our 6 day stay. This meant a 3km walk to get to Zakopane was our best option, as the local bus service was next to non-existent.
As a base for winter sports Iâm sure Willa Helan, and Zakopane itself, is a fine place, otherwise my wife and I found it disappointing.
