My husband and I recently visited Pecs and we were looking for a safe, clean, and quiet place to stay. Hotel Makar was EXACTLY that, and it was an unbeatable bargain!!!
The staff was very courteous and accommodating - we had a reservation, but due to a flight delay, we got in a day late. I called the hotel reception and they were VERY accommodating; we didn't get charged extra for the night we missed. The facilities at the hotel are excellent - we were impressed to find an indoor racquet ball court and well-maintained indoor pool.
Our room was private and cozy, and VERY clean. We also dined at the conveniently-located on-site restaurant several times - the food was delicious and the staff was very polite. Oh, and their breakfast buffet is probably the best in town, with LOTS of options (cereal, fresh pastries, eggs, yogurt, etc.) They even gave us home-made sandwiches for the road when we left, with authentic Hungarian kolbasz (salami). What other place does that?!
Location-wise, the hotel is not very far from the city center (definitely a doable walk there and back). It is perfect for a relaxing, refreshing wellness visit or vacation stay. Overall, we felt like royalty at Hotel Makar, and we would definitely stay with them again.

Nice modern hotel, good room, free breakfast was good, lots of stairs & long walk to our room. We just stayed one night so didnt use the sport facilities but they looked great.
