Jully 21th,26; i went to book an Hotel Ibis Vienna because Booking and this owner was not committed

I did arrive at the property within the official check-in window, not after it. I arrived at approximately 12:30 PM on July 20, 2026, and remained at the entrance until 3:53 PM, waiting for the host. During that time: I called the host 8 times without any answer, with my last call at approximately 1:28 PM. I also sent messages through Booking.com requesting the check-in instructions and access to the apartment. The host never responded and never provided any information on how to enter the property. No one was present at the property at the scheduled check-in time. Because the host failed to provide access to the accommodation or respond to my repeated attempts to contact him, I was unable to check in. This was entirely due to the host's lack of communication, not because I arrived late. I have photographs showing that I was at the property's entrance during that time. I can also provide additional evidence, including location records and other proof that I was in Vienna on that date, if required. I am deeply disappointed by Booking.com position. This situation is clearly a scam, and it is regrettable that a listing of this kind can be offered on Booking.com platform. This situation could have been avoided. On the very same day, we reported the problem through Booking.com messaging system when the owner had stopped responding and was unable to accommodate us. It would simply have been necessary to suspend the transfer of the remaining balance to the owner pending verification. By proceeding with the payment regardless, Booking.com is only encouraging this type of fraudulent practice. It is particularly unacceptable to have paid for accommodation that we never had access to, only to be told that you understand our situation but will not consider any refund. Furthermore, we did attempt to contact customer service by telephone while we were on site. We received no assistance. The owner was unreachable, and Booking.com service provided no solution.

Great Potential, but Comfort Needs Improvement

The apartment has good potential, and the location was convenient. Overall, it was a pleasant place and we enjoyed our stay in general.

The beds were not very comfortable, which affected our sleep, and the lighting could be improved. These issues impacted the overall comfort of the stay.

Spacious apartment good location and easy check in.

location is good 20 minutes walking to city centre, groceries one block from there.

One of the beds was sunken thus impossible to sleep. I was only one night but I communicated and receive a fast response so for further guests probably was fixed.

Great location, but the stay was affected by non-working Wi-Fi and a strong damp/mouldy smell in the sleeping area.

Good location and easy to get around Vienna. The apartment itself is nice and spacious, and check-in communication was fine. Overall it could be a great place for a short stay if everything is working properly.

Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi did not work during our stay. We arrived around 9pm and informed the staff right away; they said it would be fixed the next day, but we were only staying one night and leaving very early, so there was no practical solution for us. Also, the main issue was a strong damp/mouldy smell (almost like something rotten), especially around the bed area, which made it uncomfortable for both my partner and me. Because of these issues, the host offered a partial refund. Even with the refund, it’s important to mention the experience for future guests.
