The house is very cozy but rather spacious, especially the huge bathroom and shower area. It has two toilets (one on the first and another one on the second floor), hot tub, outdoor seating, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, barbecue. Everything is very clean, well-maintained and prepared for a carefree stay. We had sufficient supply of firewood and kindling, good olive oil, salt, pepper, spices, garlic, crisps, olives, chocolate cherries and honey nuts. You can wonder around and explore beatiful forests and hills or enjoy books and board games — the house has plenty of both. The nearest Tesco superstore is accessible by 40-50 minutes by foot.
I think it may be useful to add another type of salt. Just the ordinary one for cooking, as it's not very convenient to use the fancy mill for that purpose.
A kind note for other guests: there is no Uber there, so be prepared to order a local taxi by phone. We used Rabs Cabs and FM (the last one has no POS terminal).

Loved everything about Penicuik, the cottage was perfect and we made the most of everything available to us (hot tub, bbq, boardgames and all the little fire pits) and would certainly recommend it. It’s decorated to a very high standard. We went for a lot of walks and would recommend taking wellies (we went in early Feb so it was muddy). We also drove in to Edinburgh for lunch one of the days and it was only 30 minutes away.

We Absolutely adore Penicuick Estate; its location is unbelievable and its so peaceful with the most incredible
Walks right on your doorstep. All of the estates staff are so lovely and nothing is too much trouble, Thomas and Aimee are lovely !! The interiors of the properties are fantastic and the fact you can take your pets to enjoy the landscape is just amazing. Not to mention the fabulous hot tubs that’s really are wonderfully hot … not tepid warm !! They are kept immaculately clean too. All the details are thought about and we love coming here !!! This is being really picky and it really is to keep everything at a MASSIVE 10/10 !! Which we know Penicuick is and always wants to be,
Eastlin and Westlin really do need access to clothes washing facilities, even if shared somewhere onsite,
especially when the weather is wet & muddy.
Please 🙏 keep soft furnishings such as sofas and rugs regularly professionally upholstery cleaned when a night off guests staying and please always make sure soft throws are changed per guests. I.e sofa blanket and bed blanket. I really hate shared use soft furnishings between guests and guests pets.
Please leave gate fob in properties for easy walking access.

Absolutely everything. Every detail was perfect and we could not fault a thing. An Absolutely beautiful setting to spend our 10th wedding anniversary together ❤️ and we cannot wait to come back.
