Strengths of the apartment:
The location was fabulous. You could walk to any sights within Baixa, Bairro Alto, Chiado, or Alfama (with hills of course). A few steps from Rua Augusta. Just a couple of minutes to endless restaurants, the river, the cathedral and more.
It was roomy for a central place - the bedrooms were reasonable, lots of storage, the living space felt generous.
It was easy to get into with the contactless-method.
Beds were very comfortable.
Place was clean.
Bathroom was great and hot water was plentiful.
Challenges:
For the price, it did feel like furnishings could be up a notch in terms of quality (e.g., couch; the dining chairs were so loud if you moved them an inch).
As others mentioned, there was a strange odor in the apartment; you adjusted to it, but noticed it each time we entered the apartment or the bathroom.
There were 88 stairs from the entrance to our 4th floor apartment. Most of the time this didn't bother us, but...
The elevator was broken. There's a sign that says that they are waiting for repair, but based on prior reviews this seems to be the norm. Bringing luggage up 88 stairs wasn't ideal.
Overall a lovely stay, just a few things that could make it even better.

Spacious, very clean, and in a great central location. Has air conditioning and beds are comfortable. The new windows and doors shut out the street noise incredibly well. There is noise from the inside when other renters moving through hall and stairwell but once they are in their rooms it was quiet. Only major downside was the elevator being broken. We had over 100 steps up to our room (5th floor) which was ok for the most part but moving bags up and down was quite a challenge!

My sons and I stayed in the one bedroom apartment. It was exactly as described and squeaky clean. It was a very modern and minimalistic apartment and it was the perfect place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. The air conditioner was ice cold and much welcomed after a hot day outside. The location is PERFECT! It is close to Rua Augusta, Rossio Square, Santa Justa Elevator (not working right now), and many other attractions. The only negative point and other guests have already mentioned, is the stairs to go to your apartment. If you are staying on floors 2-3, it may be fine. We were on the top floor, the 5th floor and the walk up everyday was rough but this is no fault of the apartment owners. That is just the design for an older building in old Lisbon. My sons and I laughed our way up the stairs each day. There is a lift for luggage but it is painfully slow, so we just walked our luggage up/down the stairs. In summary, we loved the apartment and will stay there again.
