Hostel Haru

The location was excellent and one of the main reasons I chose this hostel. It was within a 20-minute walk of Myeongdong, which made getting around very convenient. The hostel was reasonably clean and housekeeping came every day. However, cleanliness was not always at a high standard. The tables often looked like they had not been wiped down, and the floors were not as clean as they appeared at first glance. The bathrooms and shower rooms seemed to be cleaned regularly, though. I was also disappointed that there was only one washing machine available for all guests. During my stay, it was constantly in use, so I was unable to do any laundry. For a hostel that attracts many long-term travelers, additional washing machines or a booking system would be a significant improvement. Another issue was the bed mattress. It squeaked loudly whenever I moved or turned over, sometimes enough to wake me up during the night. Finally, after checking out, I received a follow-up email written only in Korean. Since the hostel caters to international travelers, providing emails in English as well would create a better guest experience. Overall, the location was great and the stay was comfortable enough, but there are several areas where the hostel could improve.

It’s one of best hostels I have stayed in. Close enough to Myeongdong but not in Myeongdong, spotlessly clean and free water offered daily. The only issue for some is that the beds are rock hard and pillows super soft/flat. If that’s ok with you then it’s a fantastic hostel

I stayed at hostel haru for my solo trip for 7 nights. I felt safe as a lone girl. The amenities were clean, water pressure was great. I could even do my laundry before heading home. The best thing about this hostel is that it is super convenient to places like Anguk, ikseon dong and insadong. I found myself walking to these places instead of taking the train. There are at least two train lines within 10 minutes walk as well. My favourite activity was walking at the cheongyecheong stream at night to digest my dinner. Would totally stay here again!
