Unwelcoming

Plenty of space, plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space. This could have been a pleasant stay if not for all the other issues.

Unfriendly lengthy online contract that had to be accepted in advance, including a inventory - how can you agree to an inventory when you haven't even seen the property? Unhelpful access arrangements - was told would not get key details until 5 minutes before check-in time, and these would be in a link. Opening the link required the 10-digit booking reference (not easy to find on booking.com) and only contained the lengthy online contract - the access details weren't there. Rang them from outside the property (to be fair, they answered the phone immediately and spoke good English) and was told to look in the link. Told them access details weren't in the link. They sent key box code by WhatsApp a few minutes later and was finally able to get in. There were two lockable metal gates before you reached their key box so no idea how you were supposed to get through these if there was not someone at the end of the phone to buzz you through. Lack of information and equipment. Examples..... Washing machine but no iron/ironing board..... No plug for the sink or drying up cloths, only a dishwasher (not much use for 2 people and only 4 cups/plates/bowls etc)..... No wifi code available (had to message them, and it was sent by WhatsApp)...... Shower temperature very erratic..... No information at all about how anything worked..... was asked to take out rubbish at end of stay but no info about where to take it. This very much gave the impression of a property managed by people who had never actually stayed there and had not taken any trouble to think about their guests and what they needed to make their stay easy and comfortable. Finally, they asked us to give them a 10/10 review!!!!

Spacious and tasteful in a great location

Maison Maria looks like a fancy bachelor pad, with a huge living area and designer touches. Our bed was very comfortable, and there's a Nespresso machine in the kitchen. There is a public parking lot right in front, and one can then walk everywhere else in beautiful, monumental, but not-too-crowded Vicenza. The owner always responded quickly when we had questions, and the videos he sent about accessing the place and leaving the keys were very helpful. We recommend this apartment and Vicenza itself.

A few more kitchen items would be helpful for cooking, and a few more plates, etc. would mean less washing of dishes. However, there is a dishwasher with a half load setting, and that, plus the washing machine were very appreciated. If one doesn't want to cook, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, and grocery stores and bakeries are also within walking distance.
