I stayed for 2 nights and I wish I'd been able to stay longer! I was picked up in front of a hotel in Papeete by the host and driven to the accommodations, which are in the Pamata'i Hills of Faa'a. Anything needed for entry to the apartment was provided upon pickup. I will say that it was advantageous to have been picked up and driven to the property by the host, as the location is high up in the hills above Faa'a and would have been a bit difficult to find the first time you're there. (After that, just use your Google Maps app to easily get back to the property after you go out.) I will also say that it's really worth the small effort to get to this beautiful property! It's in a quiet residential neighborhood, and the view from the deck outside the apartment is absolutely gorgeous, especially at sunrise and sunset. The host was prompt in picking me up on arrival at the time we agreed, and in returning me to the downtown area when I left. I stayed at Fare Toahana for two nights, between 2 cruises on the Aranui 5. During my stay, I rented the small automatic car offered by the host at an extremely fair price. The car is clean and in excellent operating condition. Also, for a very reasonable charge the host took care of my laundry, of which there was quite a bit that had really "piled up" during my first cruise, thus leaving me a lot of time to go out and explore any sites I'd missed on my visit to Tahiti Iti a year earlier. Access to Papeete and the west side of Tahiti is quick and easy from this location. During my visit to Tahiti last year, I had been curious about all the neighborhoods up in the hills, and what it might be like to live/stay up there. My nights here in September 2026 certainly satisfied my curiosity, and all I can say is that it was an outstanding experience and the host was wonderful. I highly recommend staying at Fare Toahana for your time in the Faa'a-Papeete area! You won't be disappointed!

We loved our stay at Fare Toahana. After struggling with the lock box initially, the hosts were there to help immediately and checked us in and showed us around. We stayed for the first few nights of our honeymoon and it was beautiful waking up to the view out of the mountains towards the sea and the sound of zebra doves. The place was clean and comfortable and well-equipped for cooking in. There is a small shop not too far away for supplies and the neighbourhood is very quiet. It's easy to navigate to from the airport by car and to get into Papeete easily. The shared swimming pool was also very nice.

We only stayed here one night in transit from Tahiti on our way back home again, but the property was so nice that next time we might stay a few extra nights instead! The property had a nice kitchen, living room, comfy bed, nice shower and outside there was a day bed to relax on as well as a bbq and outdoor dining area! There is even a great view of the ocean from the property. Our hostess was so friendly and nice and picked us up and dropped us off at the airport as well.
There were no restaurants near the property within walking distance (we didn't have a car).
