Whale Shark Boutique

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better stay at Whale Shark Boutique. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome and looked after by Silva and his incredible team. This guest house has such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and the location is absolutely perfect for exploring South Ari Atoll. The whole experience felt so personal and genuine, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. The highlight, without a doubt, was the excursions. We came to the Maldives hoping to see whale sharks and manta rays, and we were incredibly lucky to experience both — memories that we genuinely will never forget. The bonus to the trips was that they were lead by Aquaman, AKA Maldivian Jason Mamoa, AKA Siraj 🔱🩵 legend! A special mention has to go to Tharuka, whose cooking was absolutely incredible. Every meal was so fresh, authentic and full of flavour, and honestly, everything he cooked was delicious. You could taste the care and passion that went into every dish, and some of our favourite memories from the stay were sitting down to enjoy his amazing food. Thank you, Tharuka, for feeding us so well! ❤️ Everyone here has been so kind, attentive and welcoming, and it’s the little things that really made the difference. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and we felt incredibly well looked after throughout our stay, Silva went above and beyond every day to make this trip special and we will be forever grateful 🙏 We’re genuinely sad to be leaving. Whale Shark Boutique has given us some of the most unforgettable memories of our trip, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxed and personal Maldivian experience. Nothing at all - it’s a small local island so anything more would take that feeling away of what it actually is.

We stayed here for 7 unforgettable days, and it was one of the best travel experiences we've ever had. A huge thank you to the hotel manager, Silvo, and the entire team for making us feel so welcome. Their kindness, hospitality, and attention to detail made our stay truly special. The marine life experiences they organize with knowledgeable local guides were incredible. We snorkeled with manta rays, swam alongside a whale shark, and on our last evening we went sunset fishing. The chef then prepared our fresh catch for dinner—an unforgettable experience! The food was exceptional. Whatever we asked for, it was always even better than we expected. Every day we also had fresh drinking water and clean beach towels waiting for us, which was a lovely touch. If you're looking for amazing hospitality, fantastic food, and unforgettable ocean adventures, this is the perfect place. We would happily come back and highly recommend it!

I loved the remote location of the island where I could totally unwind. I also loved the nearby beaches, and the sandbar which was a great place to watch the sunset. The service was top-notch on every level and in every way. Nothing was too much for Silva and his team. The rooms were spotless and have been well thought out and designed. The food was great. The breakfast was amazing and I could not believe the dinners the young chef created each evening. I went on a two point snorkelling trip where the local guide (called Aquaman) insured I saw Manta rays (and lots of them) and an amazing hawksbill turtle. I give this Hotel an A++++ and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

There was nothing about the property that I did not like. It was all fantastic.

Pro: Das Hotel ist super neu and sehr stylish. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber and die Klima hat sehr gut funktioniert. Ich hatte ein Zimmer im 2. Stock und konnte traumhaft vom Bett aus das wunderschöne Meer beobachten. Der Balkon ist auch super. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr bemüht und housekeeping macht einen tollen Job und fragt oft, ob man was braucht. Bei manchen ist die übertriebene Freundlichkeit doch offensichtlich aufgesetzt. Der Transfer wurde mir vom Hotel vorgeschlagen, super wichtig, da es nicht ganz so einfach ist nach Fenfushi von einer anderen Insel zu kommen. Top service. Zurück nach Male ging es mit dem speedboat für 60 Dollar eine Strecke um 7 Uhr morgens. Der Bikinistrand ist traumhaft paradisisch und beim Schnorcheln des house reef recht weit draussen habe ich Schildkröten, Haie und einen Eagle ray gesehen. Es gibt Liegen mit Auflage und Sonnenschirme. Einzig die Moskitos, die auch am Tag blutsaugen, nerven. Ich habe SPF 100 als blauäugige Europäerin gebraucht, da die Sonne mit UV index 12 super aggressiv ist. Also rash guard mitbringen. Es gibt Schnorchelequipment im Hotel.

Nun zum Negativen. Die Malediven sind muslimisch und als Frau muss man sich den Sharia Gesetzen unterwerfen. Ich wurde mehrfach vokal angegangen von älteren Männern im Dorf, weil mein Rock nur bis über die Knie ging und nicht bis auf die Füsse. Die Mentalität ist schwierig für mich. Der Koch hat mit dem Golf cart eine kranke Katze überfahren wollen, während wir drin sassen. Er hat mich arrogant ausgelacht, als ich dies verhindert habe. Was für ein Psycho. Der hochgelobte sehr junge Marriot Koch war massiv überfordert Speisen nach Wunsch der Gäste zuzubereiten, sodass es hier etliche Beschwerden gab. Manche Sachen sind jedoch lecker wie zB die Suppen oder Salate. Negativ ebenfalls war, dass man die Rechnung erst am Ende bekommt und dort eine 10% service fee berechnet wird sowie eine 3,5% bank charge. Bei anderen Gästen wurden Leistungen doppelt berechnet und erst reduziert, als der Chef hinzukam. Man muss halt wie überall in Asien aufpassen nicht abgezockt zu werden.
