So close to places we visited, great place to stay. Walking distance to museums and China town. Lovely area with a beautiful garden nearby. First stop was the British museum.

The apartment itself is beautiful, high-quality and exceptionally clean. We were genuinely impressed by the standard of the accommodation. The kitchen was also very well equipped, and everything appeared perfectly maintained.
Communication before and during most of our stay was excellent. We had originally booked two nights and later decided to extend our stay. Our question about whether we could remain in the same apartment was answered very quickly, and everything was arranged without any difficulty. We were also helped with our luggage and were allowed to store it both before check-in and after checking out, which we greatly appreciated. Based on the apartment, its cleanliness and the service up to that point, this would easily have been a 10/10 stay.
Unfortunately, one experience completely changed our overall impression. We had deliberately booked an apartment with a kitchen because we intended to cook for ourselves. Although the kitchen is well equipped, it is extremely small, there is no extractor hood, and the smoke detector is positioned directly above the hob. As soon as we started cooking, completely normal cooking steam naturally rose straight towards the detector.
Nothing had happened at that point, and the alarm had not gone off. We called purely as a precaution because we wanted a clear and reliable answer as to whether guests could cook normally in this kitchen or whether we needed to take any special precautions. We simply wanted to know whether the smoke detector was designed or positioned in a way that would prevent normal cooking steam from triggering it, whether this had happened before, and what exactly we should do to avoid setting off the alarm. Considering that the apartment is explicitly offered with a kitchen, we believe this was a completely reasonable question.
However, we did not receive a clear answer or any useful information whatsoever. The man on the phone was unbelievably rude and disrespectful. Instead of taking our concern seriously, he laughed at us and sarcastically asked whether we were having a barbecue. He eventually told us to turn up the fan of the air-conditioning system, even though he also confirmed that there was no extractor hood. At the same time, he warned us that if we triggered the detector, the alarm would apparently go off throughout the entire building. This only made the situation more confusing and stressful, because he emphasised the possible consequences without explaining whether normal cooking was actually safe or how we were supposed to prevent the alarm from being triggered.
We were not calling to complain, nor had we caused any problem. We were simply trying to act responsibly and obtain a definite answer before anything happened.
