Scugdale is in a beautiful isolated location at the end of a 0.4mile farm track.
Everything in the cottage has been designed and finished to the highest standard.
There is not enough cooking and table ware. With a table for 8 and two dishwashers it would be helpful to be able to use them and not wash up the 4 mugs and 3 wine glasses by hand immediately!
There were no curtains in the upstairs bedroom windows, dawn is currently 4am!
The communication prior to arriving at the property was very poor. There was no response to my questions submitted over a week prior to arrival, the contact number was incorrect and I finally spoke to someone from the letting agency on the day before arrival via the company website. She had limited knowledge and had not graduated from charm school ☹️

The property was stunning! So spacious and the grounds were well kept! Was lovely to see the sheep running freely and listening to the lake behind was relaxing and tranquil! It’s perfect for a quiet get away where you are not overlooked and can just enjoy quality time with the family.
The rooms were all spacious and beautifully laid out! The whole cottage had everything you needed. We loved the fact it was dog friendly, our dog loved the garden and enjoyed exploring around. He especially loves sunbathing in the beautiful garden.
The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious and quirky!
We loved it!!!
The drive way was quite sketchy, however, we have a 4x4 so it wasn’t any problem for us. But for those who have a low sporty car may lose their bumper on the way down.
The TV was a little small in the living area, this is just a preference as the room is so large, we just pushed the sofas closer so it made it more cosy.
The garden furniture was quite small, would probably be worth updating with a larger one especially the size of the garden that could accommodate it.
The lights, there were so many lights it took the us a little time to get used to them!
We don’t like that we had to come home and leave. It was a beautiful place to stay and we can not fault it. The above are just preferable for us. But didn’t impact our stay in any way.

Gorgeous garden and surroundings.
Great living room with plenty to do and tv for the evenings. The downstairs bedroom is perfect. The upstairs bedroom was very comfortable too.
Gorgeous bath....
Great for dogs too. I want to bring my grandchildren too. Maybe next time.
It was so sunny we would love to have had a parasol and a lounger or 2 to lie on outside.

Scugdale cottage is stunning. Modern and well presented. The cottage is isolated with a big garden and stream around it. It has everything you need inside the cottage.
The track down to the cottage is very scary and dangerous. It caused a bit if anxiety going back and forth. Something like this should not cause anxiety when you are on holiday. Also the risk of damaging your car. On reading other reviews about the track, it is better to drive with one set of wheels in the hump in the middle however there is a drop on one side. If you misjudge how far to steer there is a scary drop. I think this needs to be addressed.
