The standout feature of this apartment is its location. It is in a modern apartment building at Sheldon Square, just a stone’s throw from Paddington Station and the very scenic canal. There is a pedestrian area immediately outside the building with multiple restaurants and a small but nicely stocked grocery store. The surrounding Paddington area is busy and touristic, but extremely convenient and has a great deal to offer.
The apartment is also quite spacious. It has two large bedrooms and two full bathrooms, along with a large living room with two full-size sofas and a dining table for five. The separate kitchen is nicely laid out, and throughout the apartment there is plenty of storage space and an unusually useful amount of flat work surface. The apartment is fundamentally well built, with very solid doors and windows.
The apartment is surprisingly quiet for such a central location when the windows are closed, with very little outside noise getting in.
The host is friendly and was responsive and helpful. Before our arrival, we mentioned that we were concerned about using our European USB chargers in UK outlets. He ordered three EU-to-UK plug adapters and had them waiting for us at no charge, which we appreciated.
This apartment could be a gem, but during our stay it showed more wear and needed maintenance than we expected. There were a number of smaller issues, including an area of water damage to the floor outside the hall bathroom, a warped cabinet from a past water leak in the other bathroom, a bedroom door with a broken latch, some other stained cabinets and countertops, and a couple of other minor maintenance items, such as the dishwasher indicator lights not working. Taken together, these gave the apartment a somewhat worn feel.
There was also a significant active water leak under the kitchen sink when we arrived. When we asked the host to address it, his response was excellent. He arranged for a plumber to come that same day, the plumber installed a brand-new faucet, and the kitchen was cleaned up afterward. The problem was completely resolved with minimal disruption to us.
The biggest issue during our stay was that the advertised air conditioning was not working when we arrived. We would have preferred to have been told about this before check-in, since the host was already aware of the problem. The apartment is very quiet with the windows closed, but without air conditioning we needed to leave them open on some nights, which naturally allowed more outside noise in.
However, the host had provided five fans and an evaporative cooler, and the fans worked well—we were able to sleep comfortably. He also offered to let us cancel for a full refund if we preferred to move. When we decided to stay, he ultimately provided a very generous £500 refund to compensate for the lack of air conditioning. We thought that was a fair and substantial response to what otherwise would have been a significant disappointment.
One lesser issue was the two large sofas. Although they looked good and were in good condition, we found the seat cushions unusually hard and not particularly comfortable for relaxing in the evening.

Majaz was fantastic, and the property was absolutely perfect for our London stay. Shops, restaurants, and essentials were all within walking distance, and the close proximity to Paddington Station made exploring London effortless.
