We found TCHAN LOVE almost by chance, following a recommendation from the host of our previous accommodation, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. They picked us up directly from the property with a shared taxi and were perfectly on time.
The accommodation is simple and basic, which fits perfectly with the small village and with the fact that the business seems to be quite new. The real highlight, however, is the hospitality. The young man running the place, despite his very young age, was absolutely fantastic: kind, helpful, friendly and always happy to explain things about the area.
We had dinner at the property both nights, and the food he prepared was delicious. On the first evening we had chicken with figs, rice and vegetables, and on the second evening pork cooked in wine with rice and vegetables. We also enjoyed a tasting of local wine and their homemade manecon.
The same young man also guided us on the trek to Pico Grande and Pico Pequeno. We left at 5:30 a.m., after a breakfast he had prepared for us, and throughout the hike he was patient, fun and very informative. He taught us a lot about the area, and it was clear how much he loves and cares about his homeland. Running down the volcanic sand on the way back was unforgettable and one of the most fun parts of the whole experience.
The room and bathroom are very basic and could benefit from a few more shelves or surfaces for clothes, personal belongings and toiletries. The shower pressure was also quite low, although this was probably related to the location. These were very minor issues compared with the overall experience.

location was great. we booked the property in order to climb pico de fogo and it was right at the base. food provided by host was tasty and plentiful. Host were friendly.
We initially booked a room with transfers from the airport but having booked we were told transfers were not included and a private transfer was 60 euros each way ( 45 min trip) . the return trip was not a private transfer as we shared with approx 10 other villagers going to town and the driver/owner forgot about us and we were close to missing our flight.
the room cost was higher than advertised on booking .com .
there was no hot water in our room so we had to have a cold shower.
there were no other guests staying at the same time as us. Room was a good size but the bed was a standard double. there was room for a bigger bed.
