Casa Carmen Xólotl

The most beautifully designed hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Calm and peaceful, exquisite taste and attention to detail.

The only small issue we had was with the WiFi in our room. We had trouble connecting because the signal was weak. Our mobile service wasn’t very good in the area either so we were a bit stuck. But the hotel did everything they could to try to fix it.

Excellent location, amazingly comfortable and spacious rooms, delicious breakfast to order, wonderful staff - what more can I say than, WOW. This is our second stay at Casa Carmen and we already have our visit planned for next year. This is a truly remarkable property.

The rooms are spacious, nicely appointed, and immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable. The location is great for exploring Oaxaca on foot. The staff who work there were all very nice and approachable.

There was some confusion when we arrived. Apparently we were supposed to have filled out some forms for a virtual check-in ahead of time, but we never received them. The only person working there at the time seemed surprised at our arrival. It got straightened out in the end, but it was somewhat frustrating, and there really could have been a better system in place. Although the location is fairly quiet for being in the middle of the city, there was still noise until late at night from a neighboring restaurant, and there were plenty of barking dogs and things like that early in the mornings. The breakfasts were nice, and they were convenient. And the woman who cooks them is really lovely. But we didn't find them amazing like some reviewers.
