The property was a small family run boutique hotel which we loved, had lots of character. Upon arrival our host was super helpful, helping with our luggage and giving us tips for tours & restaurants, The room was so spacious and had a fantastic view with a rope viewing platform just outside the door. We had laundry that needed to be done so the host kindly arranged for collection & drop off so we didn’t need to worry. The best part of the stay was the breakfast. We could arrange a time that suited us best and the breakfast was laid out on the table near our room with incredible views of Ella. We had tea, coffee, Sri Lankan food and continental food plus fruit. So fresh and delicious and the next day was slightly varied so we could try more food. The host mother who made the breakfast knew that we liked spicy food so they gave us chilli on the side, which made it feel more tailored to us. Would definitely recommend!

We had such a fantastic stay at Fern Hill Cabins. The location was perfect, a short tuktuk away from the hustle and bustle, with a fantastic view of the mountains and train line. They have so many small details to make the experience better, like umbrellas, complimentary snacks, universal power adapters & more. The service was fantastic, you can tell so much care goes into everything. We will be back!

A family run business with a kind touch. The hammock balcony overlooking the train tracks was great!
It’s far enough away from the main strip in Ella that you can relax.
To get there you have to drive past a municipal dump which is stinky. The property is far enough away however that it is fine.
Many stairs for anyone who is mobility challenged.
