Guest Review: Midtown at Marion
Booking.com | Stay Beginning October 23, 2026
Title: Extremely Clean Room, but Serious Privacy, Safety, and Customer Service Concerns
I believe a fair review should acknowledge both the positive and negative aspects of an experience. Unfortunately, while my room at Midtown at Marion was exceptionally clean, the lack of privacy, inadequate exterior lighting, and particularly the owners' response to my concerns made this a very disappointing stay.
Upon arriving, I pulled into the parking area and immediately noticed that it was pitch black. There were no visible security lights to illuminate the parking area, creating a serious concern for guest safety.
When I entered my room, I was impressed by its cleanliness. However, I quickly discovered that several panels were missing from the window blinds. A shower curtain had been placed behind the blinds in an apparent attempt to provide privacy, but it was too short to cover the entire window. Both windows had this same problem, leaving portions of the room exposed to anyone looking inside. Additionally, the turning wand used to operate the blinds had been broken off and left in a container on the floor.
What disappointed me most was not simply the condition of the blinds, but the owners' response when I respectfully reported the issue.
Rather than acknowledging my concern or offering to correct the problem, the owner immediately suggested returning my $150 deposit. I had never requested a refund or expressed any intention of leaving. In fact, I specifically informed her that I could manage the situation and was simply bringing the issue to her attention.
What made this response particularly troubling was that I had reserved this room approximately 10 months in advance for college homecoming weekend, October 23, 2026. The owners were aware of the event and the extremely limited lodging availability throughout the city.
