We got an amazing suite hut right on the beach. The resort is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful, we felt like the only guests there (but it wasn't full at all). Although there was a party till late night, we couldn't hear it at all. Prices are comparable to prices outside the resort, high everywhere. We stopped in a supermarket on our way and brought our own drinks and breakfast food.
You are in nature and although the huts are beautiful, they're not bug proof. Every day we encountered some insects in our room, including a giant spider. It's to be expected and there's not much that the hotel can do about it, just keep it in mind and perhaps choose a different place if this is something that would bother you.

It's a dream place in Tulum. We had a great experience from the check-in and welcome to the check-out. The staff is so kind and welcoming. We had a casita with ocean view, right next to the pool. The beach is amazing and it was cleaned daily. The overall stay at Papaya Playa (the entire resort, the restaurant & bar, the Full Moon Party on Saturday) was a memorable one.

-Located in a jungle. Beautiful nature all around.
-The hotel and the reception have some really cool artistic elements.
-There is a small public beach about 15 min walk from the hotel.
-Ridiculously high prices in the restaurant.
-The room is very small, no space for anything.
-The bed is so small and uncomfortable impossible to sleep on it even for two skinny people.
-The beach is not looked after properly.
-One night there was a techno party inside the hotel. Our bungalow was shaking from the music the entire night, was impossible to sleep.
-No indication from the hotel that occasionally it hosts parties.
-From the hotel’s entrance you have to walk like 10 minutes to reach the room. It is annoyingly far when you forget something in the room and has to go back.
-Safe box was not working. Every time I want to open has to call security because it gets stuck.
