The location was a bit of the beaten track but close to Lauder

Cosy, clean and comfortable cottage. Lovely bathroom with toiletries and huge fluffy towels. Plenty of hot water and heating if required. Fully equipped kitchen. Quiet location on a working farm. Dog friendly with fully enclosed garden. The entrance is through a very useful boot room with washing machine and large fridge. This area is always warm from the boiler and a great help to dry wet coats and dogs before going into the cottage.
The cottage is located between Earlston and Lauder. Both have a mini supermarket and very nice butchers and bakers. Highly recommend the places we tried, the Black Bull hotel in Lauder for meals in the bar and the Dragonfly cafe in Earlston for breakfast/lunch (may need to book for lunch) both dog friendly.
Lots to visit in the area, we particularly liked Sir Walter Scott’s house Abbotsford for the dogs off lead walks and great cafe/shop. Melrose and Kelso are nice for a mooch and refreshments both free parking.
Just under an hour to Berwick upon Tweed with wonderful walled or beach side walk around the town and free parking at the quay. Dog friendly boat trips from here too. Or just over an hour to Lindisfarne/Bamburgh/Alnwick. We did all 3 in a day but just the grounds/beaches with the dogs. Dog days at the amazing gardens in Alnwick Thursday and Sunday.
Edinburgh about an hour away too.
So much to see from this lovely cottage.
Cannot fault our stay.
