Too small, too hot, nowhere to sit or store bags.
We really wanted to like this apartment. Sadly, it was not a great stay.
Positives:
The location was great! Close to Takadanobaba train station which had access to multiple train lines.
Takadanobaba is a Uni town with lots of great restaurants, cafes, a sushi-train style restaurant, a games arcade, ten pin bowling. It's located in a sweet residential area and felt very safe.
The apartment has great natural light. We loved the layout of the mezzanine for our teen boy, as a retreat.
Negatives:
The size of the apartment is WAY smaller than the pictures imply.
The bedding is simply futons on the wooden floor. Not super comfy.
A small space like this needs to be well thought out in relation to storage and functionality and it's not at all.
There is no shelving for any of your day to day grabs.
There is no space for your luggage. We were 2 adults and 2 tween/teens all with large suitcases. We had to take turns dressing as we were surrounded by luggage, as there was no storage for bags.
The laundry was great, although with no outside rack and no dryer we were surrounded by suitcases AND laundry on washing days.
The worst of all was the mezzanine, which was a hot box. We ran the A/C day and night, adjusting the vents to blow cold air only upstairs and it was unbearable. If we had the budget we would have moved to a hotel.
This apartment would potentially suit a young backpacking couple who could store baggage upstairs and sleep downstairs, that said, there is still nowhere to sit, comfortably.
