Such a nice and calm place

Such a beautiful hotel with amazing staff that made sure our stay was comfortable. Great location right on the beach with only a short 10-15 min walk into the town.

Great view on the sea, direct access to a nice beach. Rooms are large and modern, with nice terrasse. Nice swimming pool. It is overall a reasonable 4 star option for Ahangama area. But it is on the pricey side (close to 200 us$ per night at this low season time) vs alternative hotel options around. Therefore we were a bit disappointed by a couple of things (see below) for that range of price.

Globally noisy : Having sea noise is expected given location, but the noise insulation from the terrasse door and window is very low. The street and truck honking noise is as well high, as there is no glass on the bathroom window (only a mosquito net). We got 2 separate electricity shut downs in one of the rooms in 3 days. Water inside our 2 rooms at every strong rain (particularly in room 302, see picture). It seems to be well known by the hotel, as when we brought that issue to the desk, it did not provoke surprise, concern or apologies. The issue was even stated as 'normal' by the receptionist, 'because it is wooden made'. Having water on the floor at each rain on that category of hotel is definitely not 'normal'. The water was quickly removed by the staff using towels, but the water of course came back at the next strong rain. The included 'Breakfast a la carte' content is quite restrictive and a bit miserly : either (few pieces of) fruit or (small) glass of fruit juice, either cold or hot meal. You will have to pay for any extra. Room cleaning is every 2 days and not every day, with 1 towel per person. A bit minimalist for that range of price. Construction work on going at the property next to the hotel during our stay : noise of hammers and drilling during the day, including Saturday. Curtains do not stop light. Expect early wake up with the sun if you are sensitive to light when sleeping. Spare beds, tables and chairs stored in the hotel corridors during the 4 day stay. Reception seems closed after 9pm, not convenient if you need something after that rime, potable water for example.
