We really enjoyed our stay at the Zumrad Hotel. The hotel is a short walk from the old town, meaning it’s near all the important sites but nice and quiet too. The hotel is well built in a traditional style yet with modern amenities (the shower was great!). The courtyard is beautiful; a nice sight to wake up to. The staff were excellent and hospitable, ever present to help out with anything - laundry, excursion/travel questions, and such. Breakfast was a nice selection; hot/cooked choices as well as pickled salads, fresh fruits and delicious home-made pastries. A perfect start to the day. The hotel was a nice oasis from the hustle and bustle of Bukhara.
The sound proofing of the rooms could be a little better, and also there are small windows without curtains so some light from the courtyard comes in. Nonetheless we were well rested as the beds were very comfortable.

The location was perfect, just a short walk to the old city! Breakfast was plentiful, with a great variety of dishes

Our stay was very positive for the first two nights. The room was spotless, brand new and thoughtfully decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the aircon worked well. Breakfast was very good and the staff were polite and welcoming throughout. The location was ideal. It's only a short walk to the centre of Bukhara.
On the final day of our three night stay, the manager informed us when we returned to the hotel in the afternoon that a family needed our room and we would have to move. We had booked a twin room (two single beds) but they had given us a room with a double and a single bed. Relocating guests mid-stay, without any prior notice, is a serious breach of basic hospitality standards. What if we had been out all day and returned late at night?
The manager was apologetic but didn't seem to fully grasp why this was unacceptable, which made it harder to address. As compensation we were offered a soft drink and some fridge magnets. The gesture seemed well-intentioned but felt completely inadequate for the disruption caused.
I have stayed in hotels extensively and this is the first time I have experienced something like this. This put a major dampener on what had until this point been a very positive stay.
