Solstice Beaune - Hôtel et Terroir

Very quiet place on the northern edge of central Beaune. Quick walk into the vineyards or into town. Very nice staff and good breakfast. Wine bar in the cellar is interesting though I didn’t have time to check it out.

New property, really good location and easy to park (for 20 Euros fee). Super friendly staff, very helpful. This is definitely our choice to stay next time we are in town. The two level room with bed and bathroom upstairs could be seen as good and bad, depending on your preferences. We didn’t mind it, even though the narrow spiral staircase was a little hard to climb. But the big advantage is that you have a large entrance area, and a really private bedroom upstairs.

We had a little ant invasion after the rain and discovered it when we returned to our room after dinner. We called the staff at 12:30am, and they dealt with it as best as they could with a deterrent chemical. The next morning they were gone. But we are not talking about 5, but more like 500 ants. It was a real invasion. For a place that competes at this level, I would keep the breakfast buffet open until 10:30am. We came in shortly after 10am, but they let us stay. A little bit more generous breakfast would also be good in terms of number of choices. In our room, there was no desk, so we had to work on a small high chair table. The problem was that this table was really not very sturdy. If it had a heavy steel construction, it would have maybe been ok, but the way it is you have to literally put your foot on the table structure so it doesn’t move around. Not great for computer work.
