Location and staff attentiveness
Only two electrical outlets in the room. Much of the breakfast was disappointing, despite the hype about the food being sourced from the estate. The bacon was stringy and too salty, the sausage bland. We really disliked there being dogs in the restaurant.

Jordan and I stayed at this beautiful, historic property and loved every moment. The swimming pool and scenic surroundings were stunning, and our room was cosy and comfortable. It was a wonderfully relaxing and romantic getaway for the two of us. The coffee machine was a great touch, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and genuinely polite - a rare find. There are lovely walking spots nearby and a fantastic restaurant with delicious food and drinks. Breakfast was high quality and served impressively fast.
We loved the property overall and will come back. One small practical but important point for petrolheads like us: the parking bays were either too small or not marked clearly. Larger, well‑defined bays would make a big difference. We had to move the car three times during our stay because other drivers kept trying to squeeze in or parked carelessly, even though we parked far from the main entrance.

Excellent breakfast, room and dinner. The room in particular was very spacious and airy looking out over gardens and the leisure facility.

It’s a good location and dog friendly though they charge £30 a dog which made it very expensive.
We’d booked in advance, and then only 2 days before the hotel informed us the grounds would not be open to us, following the festival of speed. We’d deliberately avoided the dates. This meant there was nowhere to walk - with the dogs - directly from the hotel. Nearby country roads have no path and were fast and dangerous. Given the charge for dogs and their promoting themselves as being dog friendly, it proved quite a disappointment. We drove to the nearby art foundation, which was gorgeous and dog friendly. Staff were a bit dismissive.
The dinner at the hotel was ok, but not great. My husband’s dish was undercooked.
