This was my favorite place I stayed in my month in Morocco. I came for 3-4 nights and ended up staying 11 or 12 nights! If ever there was a perfect place to do absolutely nothing, and be very comfortable doing so, this is the place!! The guys working there are so incredibly nice and helpful! They are all excellent at preparing breakfast, as well! I spent 2 hours each morning on the rooftop terrace enjoying the breakfast and the views across the valley to the neighboring village. The rooms are private and very comfortable. (If anything, you might want to choose a room away from the road. The little shop downstairs serves as a local hangout for the village folk and it can get a little noisy...but it was fine with me.) There is a nice/small kitchen to cook, if you wish, and the 2 little shops downstairs sell your basic necessities (eggs, bread...sometimes, sardines, sodas, etc.
The river is just a few minutes walk away and a nice spot to dip your feet in. It was summer, so the water level was not high enough to get in fully. However, there is a very nice hike of about 3 kilometers to the village of Oughglad (which also has a nice riad) where the locals have make a little dam to create a swimming hole.
Contact Mustapha to get his advice on transportation from Asni. I arrived twice to Imsker by local transport from Asni. Once was on Saturday when Asni has its weekly market. I only waited about 20 minutes. The second time was on a different day, but found a van (the local transport) leaving Asni after about 30 minutes. The earlier you get to Asni, the faster you'll find a ride. There are also other vans leaving for villages farther up the mountain. Total distance from Asni is about 8 kilometers. When I finally left Imsker to go back to Marrakesh, I flagged down an open cargo truck which stopped. The ride to Asni was one of the highlights of my stay. It was open on top/provided amazing views of the valley.
