Location was great
Booked this place expecting a luxury penthouse experience and instead walked into what felt like a neglected, poorly maintained rental that should never be advertised at premium rates.
The biggest issue was the cleanliness.. or complete lack of it. The carpets throughout the apartment were absolutely filthy, stained, and carried a musty odour that made the entire place feel unhygienic from the moment we arrived. You could literally smell the age and dirt trapped in them. For a property marketed as a high-end penthouse, the condition of the flooring was honestly disgraceful.
The bathrooms were even worse. The shower was covered in visible black mould, particularly around the grout and corners, which is not only disgusting but a genuine health concern. There is no excuse for mould being left untreated in accommodation charging these kinds of prices. It made the whole apartment feel uncared for and poorly cleaned.
What makes this even more frustrating is that the online listing paints a completely different picture “well maintained”, “luxury bathrooms”, “extremely well presented” none of which reflected the reality we walked into.
The views and location are the only redeeming qualities, but even they can’t compensate for the condition of the apartment itself. When you’re paying premium Palm Beach accommodation prices, you expect basic cleanliness standards at minimum. Instead, this place felt tired, dirty, and badly overdue for a deep professional clean and renovation.
It is also important to note that the photos displayed do not reflect the state of the apartment.
Would absolutely not stay here again and would strongly caution anyone considering booking until the carpets are replaced and the mould issues are properly addressed.

HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND
I rarely leave reviews, but this stay at the Commodore Penthouse in Palm Beach was so bad I feel obligated to warn others.
Let me start with the only positives: the location is undeniably great—right near the beach, walking distance to the main strip, and the view is beautiful. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The moment we walked into the apartment, we were hit with a foul, lingering stench that never went away. It wasn’t just unpleasant—it was overwhelming. The only way we could tolerate staying there was by keeping every window and door open for the entire duration of our stay. Thankfully the weather allowed it, otherwise I honestly don’t know how we would have managed.
The kitchen was revolting. Thick grease buildup, sticky surfaces, and an overall sense that it hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained in a very long time. The fridge door creaked ominously every time it was opened, and the entire space smelled like a mix of stale oil and old body odour. It felt unhygienic.
The carpets are original. They are worn and likely holding onto years of that same unpleasant smell. Walking barefoot was not an option.
The bathroom had a strong egg-like odour that made using it uncomfortable at best.
Sleep was nearly impossible. There are NO BLOCKOUT BLINDS so the apartment floods with light at the earliest hint of dawn. I was awake at 3am on the first night. On top of that the beds were extremely uncomfortable—to the point that I’ve had to book physio sessions since returning home due to back pain.
To make matters worse, a neighbouring apartment in the same building (also listed online) has clearly been fully renovated and looks infinitely better—with the same view. It’s hard not to feel completely ripped off knowing there are far superior options right next door.
For nearly $1,000 per night, this place is not just disappointing—it’s unacceptable. Poorly maintained, unpleasant to stay in, and nowhere near the standard it claims to be.
