The location was nice.
Oh, boy, where do I start? This was definitely the oddest stay I have ever had. When placing the booking, I had multiple boxes that needed to be checked prior to booking, with the higher items being a garage and hot tub. We arrived hauling a trailer with our bikes and kayaks, first thing we do is open the garage to drop the trailer…owners car is sitting smack dab in the middle of the garage, this was not noted in the listing. It was also parked directly in front of the stairs you will be trying to bring your luggage and groceries through. We go to the front door, first thing that is noticed is a large index card, noting to remove your shoes because of “white carpet”, why in the world would a rental at a beach have white carpet? The index cards began popping up everywhere around the house with instructions. Another odd feature, there is one bedroom downstairs, it cannot be accessed from upstairs only from the garage or outside. The house itself was ok, but the owners have all their personal items in there, personal photos, family coloring pages, and very odd personal decor. They had a package delivered, which was very odd. It made it feel less like a home away from home, and more like you were trespassing. The master bedroom mattress is extremely uncomfortable, and the provided sheets were not great quality. The pool and pool deck show clear damage of the hurricane, the pool itself is so stained it looks very dirty. There were also broken tile, loose and broken pavers, the pool had a very large broken piece on the ledge. The hot tub, oh man. In the guest instructions it is listed that you must text the owner for hot tub use, apparently he controls the heating of it remotely. I follow the instructions and text the owner on the first night, I asked that the hot tub be heated and was asked for what time I would like it to be done, I requested 5p-10p, the text that came back set the mood for the entire stay. “That’s five hours, can we scale it back, maybe 9p-10p.
