About this bed and breakfast
Retreat to The Village Hideaway, a cozy efficiency with an ensuite bathroom, and private entrance - for 1 or 2 guests. The space is thoughtfully appointed providing all you'll need for a comfy stay including a mini frig, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and other kitchenette essentials. Located in the rear of the house with parking just steps from your doorway. Enjoy the convenience to easily stroll downtown for dining and shopping. Plus, enjoy the world-class Adirondack Rail Trail right behind the home!
Designed for vacationers and business travelers alike, you’ll find a comfortable queen-size Murphy bed, a dedicated secretary's desk for remote work, and a cozy Morgan chair. Enjoy the ease of prepare or reheat simple meals in your in-room kitchenette (not a full kitchen), equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, and all essential dishware. Coffee, tea, honey, and sugar are on us!
Your ensuite bathroom includes a shower, towels, and bath essentials.
During the warmer months there are Adirondack chairs and a bistro table and chairs set outside your door.
Your host Mary has a private studio in the home offering yoga therapy, yoga or qigong classes, reiki and sound bath meditation by appointment. Group classes may be offered during your stay or arrange for a private lesson. Check the Inner Quest Yoga website.

Interaction with guests
Mary and Kevin are available whenever needed via text or phone and are usually quick to reply. They live in the building, so don't hesitate to ask if you need something. We provide self check-in so late arrivals are not a problem. When we're home and if it's not after dinner, Mary or Kevin usually welcomes guests. You'll find a guidebook in the room with recommendations for dining and outings as well as brochures and maps for area attractions, trails and waterways.
The neighborhood
The Village Hideaway is conveniently located a short walk to downtown Saranac Lake and its shops, cafes, restaurants, and artist galleries. The building behind the home is Cedar Street Studios, featuring art exhibits, workshops, plays and live music. Across the street kitty corner is a small park with a tennis/pickleball court and a basketball court. Guests have found the convenience of stores located across the street: Dollar General, Aubuchon's Hardware, Kinney Drugs, a Wine and Spirits shop, and a bicycle and snow mobile rental pick-up spot. Less than a mile away is the towns’ municipal beach, park and picnic area at Lake Colby - a lovely spot to watch the sunset, and a boat launch on Lower Saranac Lake, which gives access to the spectacular Saranac chain of lakes. Behind the building is the new Adirondack Rail Trail where you can walk, bike, cross country ski or snow mobile for up to 34 miles!

Lodging was lovely, host helpful and friendly, and location was perfect…close to downtown for shops and restaurants, and one mile from the hospital, where my husband was having surgery. We recommend the apartment highly!

The room was cozy and well equipped for our needs. There was excellent signage that provided important details. Mary greeted us and we appreciated meeting her. There is a really nice brewery close by along the river. We are there twice. And one morning I was able to ski out the door along the rail trail.

Bike trail was right outside, we took a 10 mile ride after arriving. Hiked the next day at jackrabbit trail, drove some scenic roads, fall colors were fantastic. Went to Lake Placid the next day, did gondola and zipline at the ski jump center, walked around town, then hiked the cobble trail which was a good uphill trail with a nice view at the top. We then went back to the ski jump to watch them practice, it was cool. As far as accommodations, there was not a table to eat on or to play games in the room, there is a table and chairs on the porch.
