Only 3 miles away from Hartman's Creek State park for swimming, hiking and biking. Or if you'd rather, just minutes away from the Beautiful 22 spring fed lakes famously known as the Chain o' Lakes. Great restaurants and shops! Take a paddle boat tour, rent a boat or bring your own! We have plenty of room for trailer parking.

Enjoy the river sounds from the sprawling back yard with a fire pit great for star gazing. Have a cup of coffee and watch the river go by from the rocking chairs on the front porch, and make family memories from the amazing screened porch.
As soon as you arrive you will know why the original settlers chose this location to start a village back in the 1850's. Stroll the quiet streets to admire the other historical buildings, or bike for miles on the Rustic Roads.

Pet friendly is very important to bring my little dogs with us. Fresh flowers on coffee table I really liked that. Also the orchid. The Picturesque little town of Rural is beautiful. Crystal river access for kayaks is close across the street at portage area. The table by the river is a nice touch. The firepit area , grill and outside dining is good. The screened porch was awesome. Felt like home. Supplies were a plenty in cabinets. Towels are soft, beds were comfy, it was quiet. Garage had room for kayaks, bikes and mobility scooter. Went for walks everyday. Close to town and restaurants. The only problem we had was both bathrooms were downstairs so if you have anyone that can’t do stairs they need to sleep on sleeper couch. Needs new mattress on that for sure. I would recommend this home for a pleasant relaxing stay

The location is great and this historic house is very cute. Easy access to the river and the quiet village of Rural with the Chain o’ Lakes nearby. The screened porch is a great space and the inside living room is a cozy space with built in cabinets that help keep the place organized and neat. A/C works well. The kitchen is spacious and reasonably stocked. Great to have a garage to use. The listing says it sleeps eight, but I think any more than six people is tight. For six people it’s reasonably comfortable. Note the only place to seat six for a meal is on the porch, which is ideal in moderate temps and daylight. If it’s very hot/cold, you’ll have to endure the temps and the lighting is dim if eating late. The one shower is huge and the other is so small you can’t bend over to shave a leg. We ended up mostly taking turns in the big shower so there’s a bit of shuffling around between bathrooms. This is our second year here and I will say the overall maintenance and cleanliness are slipping a bit. Nothing major that would ruin the stay, but it’s noticeable that things are getting broken and worn compared to last year and seem to not be repaired/replaced. Hopefully the owners give it some TLC since it’s a really charming place.
