About this cottage rental
Come find rest and relaxation at River Haven. Our beautiful new cottage is located directly on the banks of the Chauga River and is secluded within 10 acres.
The cottage is light and airy with large windows and high ceilings throughout for viewing the river and surrounding area. The cozy, well appointed living space provides a complete kitchen, master bedroom, living area with sleeping sofa, and bath. In addition to the beautiful indoor space, two porches and a hammock area are available to enjoy the rushing river sounds. A riverside firepit and sitting area will also provide an excellent opportunity for relaxation.
Visitors of River Haven, will enjoy fishing, tubing, kayaking, and swimming in front of the cabin or simply curling up with a book listening to the river. Also you may experience the thrill of Chattooga White Water rafting just 15 minutes from the cottage.
If you enjoy hiking, nearby waterfalls provide for wonderful hiking opportunities. Boating and skiing activities can also be enjoyed on nearby Keowee, Jocassee, and Hartwell lakes. Other areas of interest nearby are Chattooga Belle Farm Distillery & Vineyards, Clemson University Tiger football, Brooks Center for the Performing Arts, Duke Power World of Energy, antiquing, White Water Falls, Chattooga white water rafting, visit to Clayton, Ga and shopping just to name a few.
NOTE: Cottage is on a long gravel road that is steep. 4 -wheel drive is not necessary, but helpful. I personally do not drive a 4 wheel drive car and no issues. Long drive but ends in paradise.

Overall, the property is beautiful. It is remote and therefore very private. Unfortunately, my trip was a total wash out with rain the entire weekend. This of course, is due to an act of nature, however, the road leading to the property is mediocre at best. It is more of a dirt road than graveled and has areas that are almost washed out. On a dry day, it may not have been as challenging get to the property, but we were in a new SUV and it was quite scary going down the road. Another reason for not giving 5 stars is that the road has a great deal of low-lying branches hanging from the trees that scratches up your vehicle. Therefore, in the rain, once we got the first scratch, I had to walk the long road and physically pull back the branches so that our Denali could come through without getting more scratches. I would love to visit again if that road gets some work done. Final comment is that the sofa in the living room needs some new cushion covers. The current ones, though gray, you can visibly see the stains which makes you feel dirty when sitting on it. Those are easy fixes and hopefully someday, they will be addressed to make it even better for the next clients. The Host and Hostess were very pleasant and communication was GREAT.
