Very cute hostel with the small kitchen and toilet/bathroom shared. It’s in a traditional house so the rooms also mirror this and it was just the right size! There’s air con which was really nice in the hot weather.
The staff was very friendly too, even helping us with our big luggage from the reception to the house itself.
The house is very close to Gojo station which is 1 stop from Kyoto station so that was very convenient!
The place you check in (reception) is in a separate building from where you actually stay in but the walk was less than 10 minutes.
The building itself has thin walls and creaky stairs so I would imagine it can get quite loud if guests don’t adhere to the 10pm quiet time rules but luckily everyone there was very respectful!

It felt like an authentic Kyoto machiya from the Edo period, with a few modern comforts added. Also, there was quite a bit of privacy and everyone had enough space.
It was pretty clear that this place was intended for foreigners. My wife, who is Japanese, did not enjoy it. She said that the changing area in the bathroom was cramped.

Good location, cool vibe and nice little room.
If your room is on the street level, be warned that there is nothing separating you from the street noise except windows. If you're a light sleeper you will not sleep in or get an early night.
You'll also be able to clearly hear the other guests in the adjacent rooms, including walking above you, suitcases moving around, etc.
