About this cottage rental
Historical Haven is a unique cottage that will not disappoint. This renovated circa 1840 Dry Goods/General Store is located on Merchants Row in the historic town of Perryville, KY. Take a step back in time as you visit one of the only intact 19th-century mercantile districts in the nation. Enjoy a historical walking tour and do some shopping as you take in the scenery. With riverside views and a large deck it’s an ideal place to stay for a Bourbon Trail excursion, a visit to Centre College in Danville, attend a local wedding, to visit the many historic attractions in the surrounding area, or just relax and unwind . An ideal place for short and long term stays for tourists and business travelers alike. Please note both bedrooms are located upstairs (stairs are steep) and only bathroom is located downstairs. Due to steep nature of stairs, property may not be suitable for small children or individuals with difficult using steps.

Just completed a week's stay. I appreciated that the interior was very clean and had nice decor, everything was in order, nicely furnished. It was great to have a washer and dryer to use and the air conditioning worked really well, including the portable units upstairs. We were disappointed that the outside space was not as nice as pictured in the listing. There were not any cute flower baskets out front, just weeds and an old bench. One porch light was out. The back deck area was dirty, needs a good sweep including the dead bugs above the door. The BBQ we could not use because it was dirty, I figured I would just burn it clean but could only get one of the burners to light. The cushions on the sitting sofa outside were gross, moldy and mildewy, I noticed they appear to be the same as the ones in the last owner's listing. We had looked forward to spending time out there and doing some porch bbqs with family in the area, but it was not really very pleasant out there. The river was green with muck, not their fault but nothing much to look at. The shops on Merchants row were nice, great people. Do know that the street is a highway and is not always quiet and quaint, it was very dangerous at times crossing to the car and could be quite loud sometimes. First time to Kentucky, beautiful place and nice people.
