About this cabin rental
Strand Island is a private 45 acre island located on a excellent fishing lake - 11,000 acre Pelican Lake in Orr, Minnesota... don't worry... we have a pontoon to rent if you do not own your own boat! Located 3 hours and 40 minutes from Minneapolis. The 108 year old fully remodeled main cabin has 8 bedrooms- each bedroom has it's own antique sink. There are 1.50 baths, a totally remodeled kitchen with two refrigerators and two freezers, a stone fireplace, a sunroom and a huge screened porch with card tables and 4 swinging beds suspended from the ceiling… There is also a sauna house with a shower, a washer and dryer and a 75 year old log cabin that sleeps four and has a card table.
There are two other out buildings... one is a game room with a ping pong table and the other is a TV cabin or movie house with a large screen TV... we do not have cable TV, but we have an Apple TV loaded with tons of movies for rainy days!
The island is 45 totally private acres, undeveloped and wild- explore the woods or cast a line off the dock. This is the only home on the island!! The 11,000 acre Pelican Lake is excellent for crappie and bass fishing, boating or water sports.
Need a boat? We can rent you our pontoon for about $900 a week! It is 21 foot pontoon with a 50 horse motor & our caretaker will meet you at the dock with the pontoon to give you tips on the operation.... or you can bring your own boats or jet skis to fish or ski. There are spots for 8 cars to park on the mainland at Deer Lodge and a dock to easily load up the boat when you arrive Strand Island is about a 5 minute boat ride from the dock at Deer Lodge... or about 1 mile from mainland. The island will be all yours to roam, fish, play or pick raspberries in total seclusion.
Kayak around the 9500 feet of shoreline or out to the nearby state park on Big Island- a 210 acre nearby island owned by the State of Mn. You have the entire island to yourself- no other cabins on the island- play, explore, hike or fish one of several private bays.
There are two kayaks there for your use, an old wood row boat and a flat bottom metal row boat.
There is large grass field as well... to play wiffle ball or football for the kids.
Enjoy the stars, the call of the loons and amazing sun sets at Strand Island!

The place was amazing!!! We are so thankful for the time we could spend at the island as a family. The kitchen was stocked so well that it made preparing food for our crew easy. The beach part was nice for our littles to play. The TV room was a fun get away area for our teens to hang out. The beds were comfortable enough. I was worried about the small cabin beds being comfortable - my young adult boys stayed there and said it was good. They enjoyed having that area so they could set up all their fishing gear. There were many areas to hang out in the cabin from the large kitchen table to the beautiful sun room to the screened porch. The boys loved the field area to play wiffle ball. We have no major complaints of this property and overall everything was as we expected or above! The caretaker Deb was so kind and extremely responsive to any questions we had. We plan to be back next year!

Our August family summer vacation on Strand Island was perfect. Large cabin with many rooms for the large group we had. Plenty of space inside, the wrap around porch was absolutely perfect for games and the kids loved the swinging beds. We made use of the large outside field area and had many competitive games of wiffle ball. The swimming area was great, and the kayaks were used daily. The views and sunsets were amazing. We definitely recommend Strand Island for a large group get away.

More than enough room for everyone to stay! Lots of things to do! Caught plenty of fish! everyone found something to do. would’ve liked more hiking trails around the island.

Hi, we really enjoyed our stay. Deb the manager was excellent. Riley, the grounds guy was awesome. The Cabin was great. Would stay again. Enjoyed the fishing. Looking forward to coming back. Love the sunset and the moonlight.
