East Cliff Hotel

It was the perfect location, within walking distance of the ferry terminal. It was comfortable and we appreciated the snacks provided.

The room had a strongly scented smell. The window was open but didn’t seem to air it out and the traffic noise was very loud throughout the night The blanket was not big enough to adequately cover two people. The sheets and blanket also smelled strongly of some sort of air freshener which made sleeping in them difficult and not very pleasant

The location was very good as the closest hotel to the ferry port as we were getting the early morning ferry. It was a quirky down to earth type of hotel. Checkin was very good. Our bicycles were stored in a back room. We loved the old fashioned antique feel to the place. Room was spacious with kettle etc. Self serve breakie. Fridge in the room and we could use the dining room downstairs with microwave and we could help ourselves to snacks, fruit , milk etc. Hotel proprietor was very nice and friendly. Loved the pink coloured building; easy to locate. Great place to walk the White Cliffs of Dover National Trust footpath and to see the old terraced houses. Gravel beach was close by and you can swim in the sea! Waitrose and Indian restaurant about 10 minute walk away.

Carpet generally seen better days. Hotels needs a spring clean. Building in need of a revamp.

The room was clean and well equipped, very generous with snacks, drinks and facilities. Nice hot shower. Very welcoming owner. Handy for the port and eateries nearby (although mainly fast-food outlets in a pretty grubby purpose built square near the cinema).

It was like walking onto the set of Rising Damp! The reception and staircases are grubby, shabby and dark. This made a really poor first impression. And the noise of the lorries arriving at the port literally all night, so no sleep the night before a long journey - OMG! This hotel is in a beautiful building and a tin of paint and some new stair carpet, along with double glazing to the front, would really make this place a better experience.
