This hotel is a good value. Situated off the main walking street, nighttime noise is remarkably mild (tourists familiar only with the *reputation* of Bui Vien understand the significance).
It's the little details like the owner smoking in his own lobby, taking his tea there, generally occupying more space than the guests-- details that keep the property in the range of Tourist Stopover rather than destination. This is consistent with locally owned hotels in southeast Asia and shouldn't detract from its charm in any way. I had a very pleasant stay.
If you'll spend any amount in the room, I highly recommend paying the extra 400k for the.room upgrade.

No breakfast. Room is clean. Curtain nice. No toilet paper. Shampoo only a 1/4 left in the container. Elevator a plus- they have one. The area is in a place where are lots of activities. Lots of drinking bars. Lots of people outside, so it’s noisy even at late night. Construction in morning below our window. Stayed 2 days.
