These little villas are even better than they look in the pics. We loved the balcony overlooking paddy fields and river with peacocks strutting around. They were really private due to their placement. Air con on both floors and a fan. Great shower. Good WiFi. Big comfy bed. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Lovely pool and lots of other areas to sit and chill. They have games and bikes to borrow too. The staff are attentive and we were very grateful for the packed breakfast they did for us for our early safari.
Nothing really. The only thing as vegans - which we found across Sri Lankan hotels - is that the food offering for vegans is very limited- Sri Lankan food is actually naturally suitable, with lots of plant based stuff but here, as in other hotels, they catered more to western meat heavy diets, fine except that doesn’t fit with the blurb where they describe it as an ‘eco lifestyle experience’. Just a couple of other options for those living a more eco lifestyle would be perfect.

A beautiful location, lovely staff and we enjoyed the pool although it could have been cleaner. Nice to have a spacious lodge with living room. Beds were comfortable although the second on the smaller side.
On the first night we heard noises as if an animal was in the room. We were up at 1am with torches checking every inch. Concluded it must be something on the roof. However, the second night we heard the same noises but this time saw a massive rat run across the air conditioning. Cue a night of no sleep.
As per other reviews the cleaning isn’t great and there was a lot of dust on arrival but this we could live with. It was only the morning after seeing the rat that I then looked closely at the room and there were rat droppings everywhere, even on the tea tray but especially in the corners of the rooms upstairs and downstairs. If the rooms were cleaned properly, the droppings would have been seen and the problem hopefully addressed. We alerted the manager and asked for a deep clean (lodge 7) so fingers crossed for future residents.
Also, as others have said, food takes an hour to arrive from ordering so most people order in advance and return an hour later for dinner.
Also, be warned, this is the jungle and it’s by a huge lake. As such we had large snakes outside, a frog in our toilet, and flies were plentiful. Not for the faint hearted!
