The location of the apartment is absolutely fantastic. It is just a short walk from the bus station and Riga Central Market, and Galleria Riga shopping centre is practically right next door, including a Rimi grocery store. It is incredibly convenient to have everything you might need so close by. The apartment itself is beautiful, luxurious and very spacious. The interior is stylish and impressive, and at first sight it really gives you that feeling of staying somewhere special. There is plenty of space, and the apartment has a lot of character. The location is also perfect for anyone who enjoys being in the middle of the action. The street is one of the liveliest in Riga, filled with restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, clothing stores and nightlife. Many places stay open until the early hours of the morning, so there is always something happening around you. Yes, it is busy and noisy — but for us, that was actually part of the charm. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere, the crowds and simply being in the heart of everything. If you want a quiet, secluded apartment, this may not be the right location, but if you want to step outside and immediately be surrounded by life, food, music and nightlife, the location is hard to beat. Overall, the apartment has a beautiful appearance, an amazing location and so much potential. With a few practical improvements, it could be an absolutely fantastic place to stay.
To start off, we drove to Riga from Estonia, and from the morning onwards I tried to contact the apartment through every possible phone number, email address, and account to ask whether we could check in early, as our bus was arriving at around 2:00 PM. Unfortunately, I never received a reply. Since we had received the apartment access codes the day before, we decided to go there anyway and try to get in. Getting into the apartment itself was easy, and the instructions were clear. Our first impression was actually very positive — the apartment looked luxurious and stylish. We left our belongings there and went out for lunch. While we were eating, I finally received a message that had apparently been sent after 2:00 PM, saying that we could leave our things in the apartment, but that it was not ready yet because the cleaner was still working. The day before, I had also received a message asking whether we wanted to use the sofa bed. I found this quite strange, considering that we had booked the apartment for five people. There were only two double bedrooms, so where exactly was the fifth person supposed to sleep? We had also clearly stated that YES, WE NEEDED AN EXTRA BED. I assumed the sofa bed in the larger room would therefore be prepared by the cleaner, especially since that room had not been made yet. However, when we returned, everything was exactly as it had been before. We ended up preparing the sofa bed ourselves and even found someone’s old cookies inside it. The mattress was extremely worn, dirty-looking and generally in such poor condition that, as people who also run accommodation ourselves, we would never have considered letting a guest sleep on it. The bed linen, duvet and pillow were simply left somewhere in a closet for us to find ourselves. Considering the price and the rating of this apartment, that sofa bed was honestly unacceptable. Even some basic motels have better sleeping arrangements.
