Avoid, if you expect any semblance of staff presence, professionalism or customer service!

The photos are real! Lovely refurbishment of the room and sink (NB not the rest of the bathroom). Smooth check-in, with codes provided in advance. And yes, it's the actual Himara City Hotel building. Friendly cleaner. Iron looks to be brand new (NB no ironing board).

Broken window left unrepaired and unable to latch securely - the one a child would sleep under, if this had been a family booking. Internet inexplicably switched off for over 2.5 hours one evening, without acknowledgement. Nil staff on Reception, ever! "Host" doesn't even know the correct name of his staff. The "Receptionist" (i.e. the "money collector", who "come[s] when you call" him, because he looks after too many properties to know who he's talking to!) first contacted me at almost 10pm at night, asking to come to my room to collect payment - absolutely unacceptable, especially as a lone female occupant. When I did pay, this person was unaware of how much to collect - I had to tell him he was undercharging me. This later came back to bite me, as I made the mistake of asking him how much a direct extension would be for a THEORETICAL extra night, I didn't eventually need. When I was quoted more than the online price on Booking.com, and pointed this out, I received a highly aggressive phone call from the "Host" (nil hosting applicable) accusing me of complaining (I hadn't); underpaying (I hadn't); lying (because I genuinely hadn't and still haven't paid anything more than 97 Lek to the Euro in any establishment in almost 2 months in Albania, whilst they are adamant they won't take less than 100 Lek to the Euro!); and all sorts of other allegations with nil basis. Having made clear their unnecessary and uninvited phone call, along with their attitude on it, was the only unacceptable behaviour in question, I was left "unwelcome" to extend my stay; after initially having threatened to add (un)"owed monies" to the price of any extension - all off the back of a theoretical question and their own lack of co-ordination! Unbelievable, unacceptable and a most unwelcome, bittter end to an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Good place for some days in the city

The location is perfect, even though the hotel doesn't offer parking, there was a private parking near the hotel, so you can get an offer from this parking place. Everything needed for the vacation was really close to the hotel, even the city beach, markets, restaurants, bars, shops, pharmacy etc...

The room was clean, but they need to leave there some cleaning tools or offer cleaning service, change of sheets, after some days let's say 3 days of staying. It was not a big problem if you manage the situation carefully 😊.

Bad experience dodgey air con

Good location, towels included. Hairdryer and iron in wardrobe, triple bedroom is spacious.

Would definitely avoid! Other than the few good points above - and good reviews via Airbnb, I would encourage to book elsewhere. We booked triple room on 4th floor - Air con unit smelt of burning flesh/gas - so bad we were THAT worried about sleeping here as really did smell like a gas leak. Turned off and aired place out, would have left to go elsewhere if it wasn't past midnight and places still open. Asked staff for help, very unhelpful and agreed it did smell of gas, said he had never smelt anything like this in this room - no more rooms available, just told us to open windows and left promptly. People in the room next door also stated the room smelt terrible for the past 3 days. Bathroom was also very unpleasant, the smell coming from the drains - windows left fully open on arrival so the staff must be aware. The shower is also a wet room with a toilet in there - strange. Shower water smelt of rotten eggs at times actually putting us off showering - that bad. This was booked based on the area, close to beach /restaurants, supermarket, bus but very noisy, through the night. But I Obviously we had windows wide to try to sort the air con issue. The place felt strange and not safe at times mainly in regards to staff not really too interested in the room smelling of gas and 2 females travelling together, strange gut feeling about the place things worked out okay but worth noting...

The location is perfect, even though the hotel doesn't offer parking, there was a private parking near the hotel, so you can get an offer from this parking place. Everything needed for the vacation was really close to the hotel, even the city beach, markets, restaurants, bars, shops, pharmacy etc...

The room was clean, but they need to leave there some cleaning tools or offer cleaning service, change of sheets, after some days let's say 3 days of staying. It was not a big problem if you manage the situation carefully 😊.
