We stayed at the Retreat as we were taking part in a wedding at Tortworth Court. The location was great, both being down the road from the venue but also quiet and peaceful. There is a stream running round the bottom of the garden and the seating area next to it was perfect for some evening drinks after a long day of travelling.
Mags and John were so helpful and friendly, and have truly thought of everything. The house is beautifully done, comfortable, very clean and has everything you could need or want (including a hot tub!) We stayed as 4 adults and there was lots of space and we were able to cook and relax together easily. The level of thought about their guest's comfort really shows and is appreciated. It exceeded expectations, even based on the photos, and we were very happy we booked it. John even went so far as to give one of us a lift back to Tortworth Court the next morning to collect our car. Very much going above and beyond as a host!
Really was a perfect place to stay for us, and we will definitely be back again to relax and explore more of the area.
Nothing! All wonderful - just wish we were staying longer and could have used the hot tub more!

The property truly is a wonderful retreat; with the hosts right on your doorstep.
The owners are very, very gracious people who pay particular attention to detail. We booked the property practically one year in advance and there were no complications on arrival. It truly is a relax haven with all creature comforts including:
- an en suite bathroom in the first bedroom
- a jacuzzi in the garden
- table/chairs/umbrella in the garden
- a pagoda in the front garden, set in grassland with trees surrounding the area
- Towels provided
- full kitchen facilities
- there was welcome milk and taste/coffee
- tv’s in lining and bedroom spaces
The list goes on and on!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!!
The bonus was the host drive is to the wedding nearby in his Bentley. Including dressing for the occasion; which was very lovely of him and very very much appreciated!!
We’ll be back!! If you’re looking for an unplugged peaceful retreat for family or a small group of friends, this place ticks all of the boxes and more!!!
