The place was clean and comfortable, with recently laid carpet. There is no heat pump, but there is an oil heater that does the job.
The view is gorgeous, and there's something soul-filling about waking to fields, a couple of cows and some sheep.
I couldn't access the wifi. The network name didn't come up and the one that did (thegreenroom) didn't accept any of the options I was given as passwords. I emailed via Booking.com and didn't get a response. As I only stayed one night, it was ok as I had data, but any longer and I would've been annoyed. In rural places like Mangawhai, even data can be intermittent.
The shower rail fell off the wall as I put a towel on it. There was no damage to either the wall or the rail, it's just the screw didn't hold on the bracket.
The entrance is a little ambiguous. My GPS had me next door where there are no numbers on the letterbox. A little sign pointing to the property on the letterbox might be a nice touch.

Good location with a nice rural view. Heaps of space, very comfortable and good value for money.
Kitchen is extremely basic with a TINY fridge despite the room available to expand this. Be aware if you are travelling around with food you will struggle here.
