The accommodation was bright, airy, clean and modern in decor. Bedroom very bright spacious and the bed is comfortable..Plenty of cupboard space throughout. Kitchen clean and compact. Plenty of bath towels. Shower of good pressure. Owner was quick to answer any questions we had. The location is central and on the public bus route and 2 minutes from ferry terminal. Though between Takeaway establishments, the apartment smelt fresh and there was no noise on the street in the evening.
The stairwell to the property is in a seriously dilapidated state with large parts of the building fabric missing and a structural crack on window wall. The stone steps to the property are very worn and not for anyone with poor eyesight or balance issues. Stair lights at night are not adequate to see properly.
The main living room furniture sofa and dining chairs are not weight bearing quality. I sat on the sofa and it broke. It was precarious after being temporarily repaired - albeit quickly. I'm only 11stone. A heavier person would have snapped the frame - same with the dining chairs. The feathers standard lamp did not work - flickering when switched on so felt best not to use.
All the window blinds chain pulls are very short and at 5ft 3 I could pull them up/down just. Could do with being longer.
Kitchen - only 1 teatowel for drying dishes. None for drying hands. Bought 2 new to add to supply. Only 1 small pan for cooking, 2 small frying pans; lack of other utensils - bought a sieve. Had to buy battery for kitchen clock to work. Washing machine in situ but doesnt work. Either needs to be replaced or taken out completely. The corner cupboard door is off its bottom hinges and cant be used incase the door comes off.
Shower doors don't fit the base or meet tightly when closed. Was scared of them coming off the top runner.
