The property is gorgeous. You definitely have a "wow" reaction when you're dropped off at the front gate. The broad beach (about 200 meters from the back gate of the property) stretches all the way to the horizon (or to Tangalle, whichever comes first) and you'll likely be the only person on it. There's a rock pool on the point on the far left end, perfect for peaceful morning swims. (You are not allowed on the beach after 7 pm each evening, as that's when the massive sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.) Mishara and the staff are wonderful, flexible and accommodating. Ayurvedic consultations and a wide range of treatments are offered. I did avail myself of those amenities, but, despite what other reviewers have said, I didn't feel they were forced upon me. The treatment rooms are appealing and well-designed. The menu is spartan and designed for a wellness-retreat crowd, but it was tasty. The chef does a good job making the mostly vegetarian diet (with some fish) interesting as well as healthy. I visited Sen, the sister resort down the road, and preferred the feel and vibe of Rekawa to Sen, despite the latter's higher cost and more "serious" wellness-retreat reputation.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, when I booked on Booking.com I wasn't fully aware that the property was a wellness retreat. Its target market is the crowd that comes to it and to Sen, its sister property down the road, for 7- and 14-day wellness packages, involving yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic treatments and healthy diets. While I enjoyed my 3 day/2 night stay, it was certainly not the boutique hotel stay that I had imagined. But I still felt very welcomed, including by the two owners (brothers, one visiting from London and the other from Colombo, with their mother). There's a definite monastic vibe to the place, with a resident monk. Meal times are set, and the menu itself doesn't offer much choice. No coffee, tea, juices or alcohol is served. Water, herbal tea and king coconut are the only options. The rooms (and I was given one of the 3 best ones) are small and fairly spartan. There are a few colonial antiques scattered in the common areas that give the property a very stylish feel overall. In typical Sri Lankan style, the bathrooms are not air-conditioned. Overall, I truly enjoyed my experience at Rekawa Wellness Resort, but Booking.com bookers should be aware they're not booking a traditional hotel!

I stayed at Rekawa Wellness for one night and had a wonderful experience. The facility and ambience are incredibly relaxing, perfect for unwinding. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a calming yoga session that suited all levels, and the Ayurvedic treatment was deeply restorative. Both breakfast and dinner featured authentic Sri Lankan cuisine—delicious and well-prepared. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

Brand new hotel with old colonial charm. What a lovely stay, we had a really good time, and the treatments were out of this world. I came out feeling like a different person and would definitely come again!

Amazing location next to a protected stunning beach where turtles nest - this is one of the best beaches we have seen in Srilanka. The resort is beautifully designed, peaceful and well looked after. Staff are friendly and attentive. Offers free yoga classes twice a day and acess to Ayurveda treatments. The vegetarian food and fish provided is of very high quality. Lots of tasty vegetarian dishes.
There are several restaurants in the area that offer food options if the resort's meals are not preferred.
This is a highly recommended wellness resort - perfect place for a calming and relaxing break. Super recommended if you are into Ayurveda medicine, yoga and mindfullness.
The wellness angle of this resort is great, however it does not accommodate services for guests that do not want to follow the Ayurveda diet. For instance, meal times are fixed (breakfast at 8.30, lunch at 13.00 and dinner at 19.30). Even though there are no meat options, the food is fresh and high quality ingredients. No option to order food outside the fixed meal times. Also no tea or coffee in the room. This is not a resort that offers touristy activities and excursions.
Still a very recommended place to stay for a calming and relaxing holiday.
