Palms Place

I’ve stayed at the Palms many times over the past 20 years. This room was by far the best one. The booking experience was amazing and they were so attentive to my needs and questions. Just a great time.

They charged $153 cleaning fee when checking in besides the $100 per night deposit. I called before checking in with details and they said no cleaning fee.

The location and facility were great. The room is good, just a small defect: the bathroom drainage was quite slow, and it seems like a previous guest might have thrown cigarette ashes into the drain. When there’s a lot of water (for example, after taking a bath), ashes actually float up from the shower drain.

I was unexpectedly charged a “Condo Owner Service” fee of $90.70 when I checked out. The property claimed it was a one-time cleaning fee and said they had notified me twice — once a week after booking and once a week before check-in. However, the room listing on Booking.com clearly states that the one-time cleaning fee is already included in the price (taxes excluded). There was no mention anywhere during the booking or payment process that I would be charged an additional fee. My room was non-refundable, meaning I had already paid in full and could not cancel or modify my booking when I received those messages. The so-called “notification” they mentioned was buried inside a very long message about check-in instructions, room cleanliness, and other details. Hidden in the middle of that message was a single line that said: “One cleaning is provided after check-out… the cost is $90.70.” I was quite busy after booking, so I only skimmed the message before check-in and did not notice this line. I found out about the extra charge at check-out. I honestly didn’t expect that a condo at a large hotel with a swimming pool and casino would operate like a scam: attracting guests with non-refundable rooms and then adding undisclosed fees afterward. When I contacted the property holder, they replied that they had “already informed me twice,” “This fee is paid directly to Palms Place at the end of my stay,” and "they were confused why there is a question about why I was charged $90.70.” However, my friend, who stayed in another room at a higher floor in the same building and booked through Booking.com as well, was not charged this fee at all. This feels like a scam and completely dishonest. The property never disclosed this mandatory fee at the time of booking, and even claimed it was already included in the room price. I have reported this issue to Booking.com and will also contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. Updated: The host has reimbursed the fee.

The view, the shower, and the bathtub. The kitchen was definitely a plus. I also loved the balconies. The refrigerator size was awesome, also. We would definitely come back.

The bed was uncomfortable. Better kitchen trash bags. The front desk was not pleasant. We booked an early check-in, but the room wasn't ready.
