I am a frequent visitor to Sri Lanka. I have used this hotel anytime there is availability.
On the occasions when there hasn't been available rooms at this hotel, I've been disappointed with the other accommodation.
I am a solo traveller and the rooms are always clean and tidy. there is aircon or if you wish the fan is a nice alternative.
It is in an excellent location opposite the surf beach in Weligama, it's two floors up so there's no mosquitos. Although there is a shared balcony it is very comfortable with the seating. The beauty of the balcony you can see if the surf is any good and dress appropriately for if your surfing or not. It's also good for people watching in the evenings.
Due to the hotel also having a fish restaurant across the road "Mama's Fish Point" which was the original one of these on the beach, and the food is delicious and they will cook the food anyway you want. My favourite is the peeled prawns and calamari, I tend not to use the kitchen in the room although its sufficient enough to cook meals in. I do prepare a fruit breakfast as there is a fridge too.
They have looked after me every time I'm in Weligama there isn't anything they wont do. They also do my laundry even before I go home. Chaminda the owner has arranged over the last couple of years for me to see all of Sri Lanka even the not so tourist things. Swimming with turtles, Crocodile safari, Whale watching, Yala Park, Ella to Kandy with all the sites, Snake rescue far, Tea factory. (last time I was panning for gold and found some)
If you can get availability at this hotel it's a must.

The apartment is opposite the beach. The location makes it good value for money. The rooms have basic amenities, nothing fancy. It was comfortable.
The water was off in the morning due to construction. Rooms are basic no towels etc. Bring all toiletries with you.
